Freeport Florida was established in the early 1800’s as a free port (get it?) on Four Mile Creek. If it were up to us, we would call it Awesomeport but admittedly Freeport sounds better. While Freeport as a city may seem small by geographic and population standards, many locals recognize the Freeport area as a much larger area including unincorporated areas. With the recent expansion of US 331 to four lanes, the white sand beaches are just minutes away. This along with a newly built Publix shopping center makes the Freeport area poised for a bright economic future. In Freeport you can live in the forest and play at the beach.
